HOW IT WORKS

  1. Anyone can nominate an MP they think has made an excellent contribution in a South African policy area. Stakeholders who nominate are asked to explain in around 200 words why their choice deserves to win in the category in which they’ve been nominated.
  2. Nominations are collated by Jozi Media and shortlists for each category are agreed. Each shortlist is based on which MPs have the strongest case for inclusion in each policyrelated category.
  3. The shortlist is announced and voting is opened to all SA citizens.
  4. The results are collated by Jozi Media and the winners are announced at the awards ceremony held in November at the Cape Town
International Convention Centre in Cape Town.

These awards are an annual highlight of the country’s political and social calendar and the outcome of the election and expected referendum means this year’s event will be the focus of huge interest. Jozi Media has always seen the awards as a way of bringing people together to promote high standards of political performance and foster constructive relationships between the worlds of politics and
business.

The evening is enjoyed by elected officials, key decision makers, commentators and opinion formers and is seen as a means to make new contacts and relationships and renew old acquaintances. The event is always memorable but as well as being hugely enjoyable it also recognises the excellent work carried out at by MP’s and recognises politicians – at a national and local level – who have helped
to shape events.
